This was done by someone that set up an excel workbook that notes when these 18 actors entered a scene and when they left it. The sheet then calculates how many seconds the actor was on screen and adds up the total time per episode. A summary sheet adds up the actor's onscreen time for all episodes and calculates what % of time the actor was on screen given the total amount of minutes aired.

Here is a link to the summary sheet that gives an episode by episode breakdown of screen time. I thought it was kind of cool and a little surprising as well.

I was surprised too! I have been rewatching S1 & noticed that he was not a main player (or @ least it looked like they were trying to figure what to do w/ him).

Very interesting...I am aways amazed when people find the time to do this kind of analysis - kudos. The first five don't surprise me at all but before seeing the list I would have put Sun and Jin higher up than they actually are.

This really shows how much underused certain characters were. Claire's total screentime wasn't even enough to fill one full episode.

I know... it's disappointing.

Kudos to the person that did this, though. It's really interesting.

I was surprised to see Jack at number one, I was sure Kate would take that spot followed by Ben, since we saw so much of them this season.

I like it when things are presented in this no-nonsense kind of way, instead of going by the comments of so called "entertainment journalists"

Even Michael, who was missing for half the season, got more screen time than her

Wow I really thought Ben had the most screentime, he was in almost every episode. This goes to prove how overused Jack and Kate are and how they're continually reused and recycled as the main characters. Locke got beat out by Sayid and Hurley too!
