I agree. It's never gonna happen. But a lot of cool stuff will while they try.

Yeah, if they went back in time to stop the plane from crashing, they wouldn't even be there to go back in time to stop the plane from crashing and...ow. My brain hurts. The Grandfather Paradox again.

I'd have to watch again, but I got the impression Richard pretended for a moment not to recognise him. No idea why he'd do that though. Daniel definitely recognised him.
Richard said "Do I know you?" to which Faraday responded "It doesn't matter." Then Faraday knew his name was Richard, so they both remembered each other.

Now that Daniel and Charlotte are both dead in 1977, will the show loop back in time again to when they're both alive and allow them to somehow be informed of their fates so that they can alter them?
Yeah, that's right. I'm calling it: Daniel and Charlotte are Adam and Eve.

I took it to mean that Alpert recognised him, but wasn't sure if Dan had met him before. I think he's starting to believe in the time travel and was just playing it safe in case Dan hadn't experienced 1954 yet?

100%
Check out
zorro's comments over on DarkUFO. The guy makes extremely convincing pro-'whatever happened, happened' arguments.

Why can't Richard take Faraday into the Temple and work his magic like he did for Ben!? Hoping the ComicCon video is canon, don't want this to be the end for Faraday

Because... dead is dead. Young Ben wasn't dead, and Faraday isn't John Locke.

I think we're right to carry on believing WHH, I think even Dan sadly realised this after being shot

I bet Daniel's wrong....nothing is going to happen at the Swan. Until Jack and co. try and fail to blow up the Swan - that is the incident...when Jack and co. just badly damage the station.

Daniel is so stupid for being so smart.
#1 You carry a gun, you will get shot.
I'm sure Daniel has seen at least a few movies or TV shows in his time to know that if you approach someone with a gun, and fire it at them, they will return fire. You also never turn your back on a single person who might be armed(IE the guy who was reaching for the rifle, that Dan walked right past with his back turned)
#2 No attempt to talk nice to Richard.
I'm sure Richard would have liked to peacefully talk to Dan. I mean, to Richard, here stands a man he had seen 23 years earlier and he looks exactly the same. Almost ageless... like Richard... You would think that Richard would have been intrigued.
#3 Threatening Richard in front of everyone.
Surely someone was not going to wait until Dan got to the end of his count before they acted. Dan had to realize that giving Richard and his people a direct threat with a finite time deadline would not leave many options for what would happen.
#4 No attempt to identify himself as someone other than a Dharma jumpsuit.
I'm sure if he would have not had the gun, and identified himself as a friend of John Locke, or from the future/past(remember he was from the future in 1954 and now in 1977 he would be someone from the past who was from the future)
Bottom line. Dan was completely dumb in handling that situation. It's like he wanted to get killed. This is, of course, assuming that he is "dead is dead," dead. I don't see Richard and company just letting him die.

Exactly. Nothing has proved tonight that whatever happened, happened doesn't still stand. That some characters will be trying to modify events might very well end up further proving what Darlton have told us about LOST's own rules of time travel when they don't meet with success.

Their actions may even lead to the protocol being introduced. The same protocol that will eventually break down (via Desmond) and cause 815 to crash.. which is what they're trying to prevent
